Mahkota DewA

We went to the local hair salon. This kind of doubles as a sundries store. I happened to see a package of Mahkota Dewa in there. This is quite a fabulous tropical herb. I will learn the English name and post about it again soon.

The interesting thing about this herb is that it tastes really good. When you boil it up in the pot there is not horrendous broth to guzzle. It's quite pleasant and better yet it cures many human ailments.

Even so I am still quite partial to hot cup of Sambiloto tea, it is akin to herbal whiskey.
Sometimes you just want a drink that will curl your eyelashes and make you healthy at the same time.

Sambiloto King of Bitters!

I like herbs, they are medicines that grow in the ground.
There is one particular herb that I like. In tropical Bali Indonesia they call it Sambiloto The latin name is Andrographis Paniculata - See Wikipedia.

This stuff is so bitter, it pretty much scares sickness away. Sambiloto is so bitter it puts hairs on the hairs on your chest.... even if you didn't have any there to start with. Sambiloto is so bitter that if you drink enough of it mosquitoes wont bite you.

It grows everywhere around this area, it is a simple roadside weed. It looks so unassuming yet if you take one leaf and chew it in your mouth...

A flushing waves encompasses your body as the flavor permeates your saliva glands.
In the words of the great Australian prophet "Farkin Aye!"

The active ingredient in Sambiloto has a strong positive effect on the liver and kidneys.
If you need to know all the yadda yadda look at the wikipedia link above. It cures just about everything and strengthens your body all round.

I am not a staunch herbalist, I like to start the day with a fresh carrot juice and then a coffee.
Later in the day I drink Sambiloto Tea. Just one is good. If you have too much of it, your body goes into detox and that can be hard to handle while at work.

Preparation: Get the plant and dry it in the sun. Once its dry, scrunch the leaves and keep them in a sealed container. It lasts a lot longer than drinking chocolate. Almost no one helps you finish off a container of Sambiloto tea in a hurry.

Food is your medicine and medicine is your food.
Stay healthy, take your medicine while you are healthy.

Ultimately "Self Nuturing" is the only nurturing.
Be kind and firm with your self.
